I actually think 13 and 14 are very cute. I've always loved rodents, and rats and bats happen to me 2 of my faves. Yes, admittedly hairless rats do look weird, but it's still a little cutie. And bats, especially fruit bats, are adorable.

Yeah you're right, actually it is a Cornish recipe (and loads of Cornish people do not like being called English!). Apparently the herrings have to be put in that way around because then the juices go into the pie, where there's mashed potato, as it cooks. It's not actually that gross!
