I'm amazed how brilliant people are around here. You can find a similar concept in everybody's works: Take for example Roland Emmerich. Take a white, modern family. Establish a possible love interest which has to conquer odds, give many exaggerated shots where parts of America are destroyed, then the odds are desolved (namely the second guy is killed or whatever) and then the small group you watched to come together manages to survive and a new and better world begins…. See? It is very easy. And what is the most important: Nicholas Sparks does not write romance films, he writes novels. So you should start criticizing his novels not the films that are made out of them. Just a thought…
