My fiance and I have been having almost daily discussions about his desire to join the military. I guess this is a sign
Meli, my ex-husband was in for almost 5 years. There are pro's & con's. We traveled all over the world. My youngest child was born in a town that was over 1800 years old. It was amazing. You will make friends that will sustain you when things get hard. I still have friends that were from that time, and it's been almost 14 years since he got out.
On the con side, you will be 100's if not 1000's of miles away from your family. You'll have to get used to different cultures. (Both of those things were Pro's in my book…lol…but I am weird.)
If you are absolutely secure in your relationship, I say go for it. In my life, the things he had to do (sniper) took a part of his soul. The way he chose to deal with that pain was something I couldn't handle any more. So we divorced about a year ago.
Even knowing what it cost me, I would not trade that time for anything. It was amazing. And he defended this country…my freedom…my life…the lives of our children and every single American. I am so proud of him. He did what he had to do when things got hard.
