Picture # 13 is referring to Pasties: a pastie is a meat pie with a crust. It originated with the Welsh Miners working in the copper mines in Upper Michigan. The wives made and packed hot pasties for their men, when it was lunch time, these (hopefully still hot) pasties made for a hot, filling, and satistying lunch. Pasties are traditionally made from flank steak, cubed potatoes, carrots, onions, sometimes rutabagas, salt and pepper. All this is cooked and then wrapped in something similar to a pie crust, except it is not sweet. Check out a recipe on the web for Welsh pasties; you'll enjoy them.
Surely the original was the 'Pasty' from Cornwall, England.
it was cornish pastie for the cornish tin miners obviously the welsh took it with them as you can get cornish pasties anywhere in the UK but not welsh not even in wales there they sell cornish
