Lady Gaga is inspired to learn American Sign Language (ASL) so she can communicate to her deaf fans. The pop star plans to take lessons with a personal tutor. So where did her inspiration come from? She was motivated after watching YouTube clips of her deaf fans signing along to her songs. A source explained yesterday, "once she's mastered sign language she'll be able to respond to the videos that are online, and include signing in future live tours."

I've actually just started to learn ASL, its pretty interesting and good on her for caring enough to want to learn it!
Lady Gaga is guaranteed to create a buzz, whatever it is she decides to do. In this case, I heartily approve. That she cares deeply enough about ALL of her fans to learn ASL is heartwarming.
Australian artist Sia already does that. She also give balloons to her deaf fans at her concerts to they can 'feel' the music:
