Srsly, tried # 21 twice and it didn't work and I'm actually a good cook! the dough is a pain in the ass to work with, "mending the seams" doesn't work, and for some reason the bottom doesn't like to cook no matter what temp you cook it at. I'm not saying don't try it, I'm just saying these are the problems I've had with it. The only suggestion I can give is to make sure the dough is FREEZING COLD when you work with it and work quick. The more it warms up the more of a pain in the ass it is to work with. Here's a link to whole tone of braid-style recipes. good luck

My Mom and I make an apple turn over pie that is just like it but with out braiding. Cold dough and flour to make dough not stick to the surface. I would think that just making the strips long enough to tuck them in tightly would work…Hmmmm, must experiment. Also, baking them on a layer of tin foil helps crisp up the bottom a bit but not too much so it remains pie-ish.
