If women live men in uniform so much, then why do most soldiers wives cheat/leave their husband while he's serving? Riddle me that….I think girls just LIKE the idea of a man in uniform, but don't really want to date a guy who's in another country while serving his….and that my friends is bullshit.

i am one of those guys whose wife (now ex) did that and i agree with you they love the image and the idea but when it comes to us deploying they then hate us and the military

Soda Pop, I am an ex-military spouse. My ex-husband was in the Army for 5 years. He left for Basic Training when our now 19 year old daughter was 2 months old. In the next 13 months, we saw him for a grand total of 12 days. When she was 15 months old, we joined him in Baumholder, Germany. This was during the ethnic cleansing/systematic raping that was going on in Bosnia. He was in combat frequently. He didn't tell me what he was doing, but I'm not an idiot. I knew. I'm telling you this so you understand that I know what I'm talking about.

Knowing your spouse could die at any moment…knowing the chaplain could show up on your door step…disciplining your children alone all the time…trying to sleep alone but not ever resting peacefully…knowing that he is in mortal danger…it's an insane amount of pressure. Only the strongest of women can survive it without making some stupid mistakes. I'm not saying their actions are right because personally, I find this behavior reprehensible. I am saying it is understandable.

The same thing can be said for those who are in the military fooling around on their spouse while deployed. Y'all are dealing with some pretty serious shit & if you take comfort with someone…well…it may not be "right" but it is understandable.

It boils down to this: Those who are in the military make tremendous sacrifices. So do their families. It is not easy. It is worthwhile. Living in Germany was spectacular. There were some places where the air itself was old. But in the end, it cost me my marriage. So this is why I thank those who choose to do this job. Y'all have my deepest gratitude because I know what it takes out of a family.
