That's just mean- she was in a car accident! Reconstructive surgery should not be compared to a purely "cosmetic" one.

Dear God, Tori… what did you do to yourself?!?!? That is really sad, she was such a beautiful woman BEFORE.

and #17, while Rose was in a car accident, she's admitting to having some other things nipped and tucked while she was having the surgery to fix her nose from the accident. You can see it mostly in her lips and a little around her eyes. So while it started as reconstructive, she also had some elective work done too.

Some of the others look more like hair/makeup and simply getting older… some… are just tragic misuses of plastic surgery.

But didn't you know that the glass from her eyewear cut her badly? Broken glass shoved against the face near the eye in a violent crash isn't pretty. So some nip and tucks is just a cop out. She should be happy she didn't get eye lacerations.

#15 Cheryl still has a bump in her nose so I never thought she had surgery.. Kinda looks like she just grew up a bit, fixed her teeth, got a different hairstyle and better a make up artist??

I am sure that this has been mentioned before; it must have.

Why doesn'r Berry label the images? Every time that I come here I am at a loss as to know who half of the people in the pictures are. It's really upsetting. Not everyone knows every celebrity by sight.

#11 Whooaaaaa no wonder she got a nose job. Wow, I always thought he was gorgeous but never realized it was mostly because Daddy's rich. Same with #12, I always thought Blake Lively was beautiful but kinda disappointing to realize it's not as natural as I thought.

why? do you feel the same ways about tattoos or piercings? I agree that a lot of these images paint a sad picture and that many of the before pictures show far more beautiful and interesting looking women, but is it really our job is outside viewers to dictate how people our allowed to determine their own appearances for themselves?

I love your index card collages. I like the foramt too, and so do my two kids (age 11 & 6) who have declared that they don’t just want to do index cards for the summer but for EVER!! It’s fun thinking of things to do on them each day and they have turned out to be a bit of an art journal for me too, capturing memories, thoughts and feelings of this summer. Some of these are no doubt overboard and excessive, but a lot are no big deal. These women obviously weren't happy with their appearance so they did something to change it, and now we're judging them some more? That doesn't seem very productive. I'm not a big fan of plastic surgery, but really, just let people be. They look good.

these women are revered for their appearance and still feel the need to sandpaper off every imperfection. what hope does any regular woman ever have with her self esteem if the most beautiful and rich women must get their cheeks plumped. they don't all look good.

My sense is that many of these are not only before/after surgery photos but also before/after fame photos, so I think the better question is why do we as a society demand an unnatural standard of beauty or perfection from so many of our celebrity. Outside of those who fit into the niche market of being "different" or "authentic" we expect women to be beautiful in a very specific way. Is it really fair to blame the people who get ragged into that mentality, or should we be looking at the larger systemic problem that creates this skewed perception of women's beauty?

Great tips for someone just stiartng out. Just wanted to expand a bit on choosing the correct URL. Sometimes the domain name you want is simply not available. Everyone wants one-word names, and for good reason. But if that one-word is already taken, you can still work it in by choosing a name made of a short phrase, especially if it’s a cliche or otherwise easily remembered. Johncow.com is a prime example of a 2-word name. How about these, all great blogs with massive readership: CalculatedRisk, TheMarketTicker, BoingBoing, ReadWriteWeb the list is endless.Boiling it down: While a 1-word name is simply great, an easily remembered phrase works just as well and maybe, even better.(disclaimer: When I first took Wordout public (it was originally private for my existing customers locally) and switched to a WordPress platform, I didn’t get a new domain name. I left it where it was, in a wordout’ subdomain. Getting to Google’s page 1 results for that keyword (Wordout, the name of the blog) was incredibly hard. It can be done (just Google it) but seriously, if you can avoid that battle you’ll be better off.Thanks John, and good luck to new bloggers! Have some fun today, ok?
