#14 is not quite true. At least where I live (northern Germany), the dinner plates are about the size of the "American homes" one in the picture. At home and in restaurants.
Could be different in other parts of Europe, though. Who knows.
And of course if it's a really fancy restaurant, the plate is huge but there's not much on it. ^^
england here (or at least someone from there)! I agree… never seen a portion so small except on kids plates…
the smallest one even has kid utensils in the picture! haha.
Very true but to be fair we're hardly the healthiest, slimmest European country (sadly enough)!
Same goes for here in Czech – the middle plate looks about right. But the difference is that here, the biggest meal of the day is lunch. Dinners are usually lighter.
#9 — been there, done that! Congratulations on your hike! I know what kind of challenge that was for you!! Keep up the great work! PS: you get used to the screws & plates — if you're really lucky they'll stay forever :p
#9 WOOOOO!!!!! awesome job and i'm glad you got to be out in nature and your body is working right!
i agree with #8 100%!! bob really knows what he's talkin about!
#4 i totally had to google what x was…lol
If you eat too much of it you'll get diarria =D It's really only good for chewing gum…but for that it's great
#8 generally a good idea but some of this stuff is extreme, I don't know ANYBODY who is willing to go to bed hungry, and you need good whole grain carbs at every meal for muscle recovery and good serotonin production especially if your upping activity and lowering food intake.
#8 – The Skinny Rules? Really? The goal should be healthy weight management, not SKINNY. Go to bed hungry? No carbs after lunch? Those kinds of restrictions will get you a running start on the road to an eating disorder (believe me, I know.) What a shame. I expect better from the Berry.
'going to bed hungry' is just plain stupid I agree, and 'no carbs after lunch' wouldn't really be possible for most. What I'd take from it is to not eat late at night and to try to cut down on carbs in the evening. I don't have plain carbs after lunch and it's working great for me.
#8 For the most part, a very smart guide. However, skipping carbs after lunch and going to bed hungry are two things that make me a very unpleasant person to be around.
I agree. I always have carbs after lunch, I just don't overdue it, and I have a snack before bed sometimes or it's unbearable to sleep. I just stick to a few carrot sticks or something. And I am skinny so clearly it's working just fine for me.
#2 Zucchini also works amazingly for a nice spaghetti replacement. Haven't had pasta in almost a year and don't miss it at all!
#10 made my mouth water! 13 is also great. I found a greated crushed red chili pepper hummus at the store.
I'm way more excited about #2 than I should be.
Me to, I wish I could find the whole recipe !
#2 Carrot Pasta with a Pesto, Balsamic, and Currant Sauce. Sorry so late! I just noticed your post.
# 9- Way to go!!
So…which is it, Berry? Carry a tote bag which reads "Eat Cake for Breakfast" or starve myself and go to bed hungry? Make up your minds, editor-ladies–I'm getting really tired of this weirdly weight-focused Daily Motivation trend that's going on lately, especially with the never-ending food porn posted later in the day. I understand living my life in moderation, but this is just ridiculous. I don't *need* to come to the Berry every day, I *choose* to, and right now I don't understand why I should continue making this choice.
You're right, the mixed messages on this site are getting ridiculous, and the Daily Motivation is getting to be much more about obsession over an ideal than actual health.
no love for #16 really? thats what the DM should be. pictures of actually fit people and success stories such as #9. who needs skinny rules. pick your self up like #9 or push your self like #16
#8 – At least 50% of these are among the stupidest stuff I've ever read. This guy sounds like a complete moron – the anorexia-look went out of fashion a long time ago, mate. Looking healthy is sexier than looking dead!
