#2 I want to be like this!!

I'm hoping to take up jogging then build my way up to running. Any tips fellow Berries? x

    • Sarah

There's a program called "From Couch to 5K." It's really easy, totally free, and is what I used to start running. It takes 9 weeks but by the end of it you can run a 5K, and the best part is, halfway through, you WANT to run a 5K! The biggest problem I always ran into BEFORE starting the program is I would go out for a run and just run and run and I would hate it and feel awful and think, "Why am I doing this? This is horrible." But this starts you off with a mixture of walking and running, like justme suggested, only it tells you exactly how to do it for each week. There's a group on Facebook as well that offers fantastic support. I recommend trying that, even if you're not starting from "the couch."

      Here's a link: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

Start slow and trust your body. Good luck!

    • justme

Go for a walk. Every few minutes, run for 30 seconds. When that gets easy, run for longer periods of time and walk less. Eventually you will be running and not walking. Hills are really hard when you start out, so find a flat place to run in the beginning. Good luck!! Don't give up, you can do it!

I have been doing the program Sarah mentioned (Couch-to-5-K) and am on week 5, and so far it has been a great program. There are apps for it to, I use the C25K Free app from Zen labs.

      • Sarah

        Good luck!!!

The Chive either includes the occasional Berry gallery because:
    1) It's John's sister and he feels obligated to support this crappy site, or
    2) It makes Chivers see how awesome the Chive is in comparison to this crappy site.

The minute someone comes up to me and says "Berry On", I'll change my stance.

    • fin

Oh I missed the comment where ANYONE ASKED YOUR FUCKING OPINION, buddy. Go back to the Chive and stare at some tits and ass and leave us alone.

      • kujhawklaw

This gallery was on the Chive. Enjoy your salad fatty.

        • hollywood22

I nearly spit out my lettuce reading that. I just thought of the "okay" face. Thanks for the laugh

  • crazydog

    Good God I love being a guy…

  • A BiPolar Guy

#6 maybe for you. There's a reason the coach makes you run laps for misbehaving, not eat cake. But it that's what trips your trigger, I won't be selfish. You can do my exercise and I'll eat your chocalate. Everybody wins!

  • A BiPolar Guy

Oh so not to give the wrong impression, I'm down 40lbs and falling. But I have NOT enjoyed it. I'm doing it because i love her, which I think is a much better reason than doing it for me.

  • Canucks_Rule
