#19 are the stairs actually floating, I don't understand it.

They're candelevered, meaning the support is running in the middle all the way through, with some sort of L shaped joint in the wall for the oppositional support.

Yes! You GO, girl! Def. cantilevered. The joint is also probably secured to something weighty to handle the extra weight of someone pushing off of the stair. Interiors people have to take Structures classes, too.
