Things were a lot simpler in the 80s. My children have to deal with so much more than I ever did. Aggravated peer pressure and violent bullying. Far worse drugs. School shootings. Terrorism. Sex trafficking.
If I could wrap my child in the "80s cocoon", I would
My HS had tons of drugs in the 80's…well, mostly coke, it was a rich suburb school. I was bullied by the senior girls at the end of my sophomore year because I dared to date a senior guy- they blew up my mailbox, egged my house, punched me, slapped me in the face with a handful of shaving cream and hit me with a water balloon at me while I was taking my French final. I wasn't the only one they did this crap to.
Meanwhile my nieces and nephews all graduated w/honors and none of them drank or did drugs in HS.
Nostalgia can be sweet but it's not always as perfect as you remember it today.
Not nostalgic. Fact. The world is a far more violent place than it was in the 80s. I am sorry you were bullied. That is unfortunate. The children of today face far worse horrors than we ever did.
Oh and I'd just like to ad: no director/producer will ever top John Hughes and the way he captured teenage life
#3 #5 Teen Witch, one of my favorite movies as a kid
I completely forgot about this movie SO HAVE TO BUY IT
If only we could go back in time, when things were simple.. and 80 movies were the best.
#12 & #15 just sum it up very nicely.
I wish I had been a little older in the 80's… like 16 instead of 5…
It is a little depressing though, how shitty the world has become in a rather short period of time.
