Relationships are great but they’re also really freaking frustrating. As we all know, people keep getting married, and while some relationships go to hell the minute a couple says “I do,” others just keep going despite roller coaster life events.
A friend of mine is getting married this summer and she asked me for some “ball and chain” advice. I had to laugh because my husband and I, who’ve been married for 11 years now, hopscotched our way into our wedding vows a scant eleven months after meeting. We had no plan, we didn’t know what we were doing (still don’t by the way!). I’m from WI he’s from NJ, I’m 20 years younger than him. I’m a Gemini, he’s a Capricorn. We met at a Kmart, and I bought my wedding dress from Fredrick’s of Hollywood.
This marriage should not have lasted this long, in fact this marriage sounds like an episode of Reno 911! Yet here we are, still madly in love after all this time. So, I wanted to give my friend some honest decent advice and this is what I came up with. These tips and a sprinkle of dumb luck are what keeps my marriage together. Remember, relationships require a lot of maintenance, a maid, two janitors, a therapist and an army nurse at the very least.
