This is your brain on meditation
There is a ton of research on what happens to your brain before and after meditating. In general, most of the studies I’ve read conclude that the participants see an uptick in mental clarity and feeling less stressed. Meditation has taken on a more mainstream role with mental health, and now doctors’ recommend it along with other treatments. Meditation is often suggested as a compliment to traditional treatments for ailments such as PSTD, anxiety disorders and depression. (Please note it is a compliment to traditional treatments NOT in place of them.) There is even new research suggesting that it can build up grey matter density!
I’m not a medical professional (although I’d love to wear scrubs as a work uniform), nor do I think that this is a cure-all practice. However, in my personal experience, I feel more focused and happy after each session. It keeps me coming back.
