When it comes to working out, I’ve found that music is by far the best motivator. Even if you’re not feeling the gym that day or you’re too tired to get that last rep in, a solid playlist can give you the boost you need to get off your ass and do work.

So, plug in your headphones, throw on those yoga pants, and get to it with these 2013 chart toppers. They’ll have you dancing your way through the gym in no time.

1. Daft Punk, Pharrell – “Get Lucky”


I’m up all night to get lucky…This song never fails to put me in a good mood and a positive attitude is a key ingredient to a solid workout. Plus, you can’t really go wrong with Daft Punk in any area of your life.

It’s no secret that electronic music is a great energy booster. Even if you’re not the biggest fan of DJ’s and remixes, give this Avicii hit a listen and I guarantee you’ll start moving.

3. Capital Cities – “Safe And Sound”


Capital Cities is another solid group for mood-boosting and cardio motivation. It will be so much easier to get those last miles on the treadmill when you’ve got an uplifting sound track.

4. Icona Pop – “I Love It”


I love it! The devil-may-care duo Icona Pop is also ideal for an upbeat workout playlist. Admit it, you’re already humming this song. It’s so damn contagious, you can get your ass in that gym and feel great about it.

5. Jessie J, Big Sean – “Wild”


If you’re one of those people who gets motivated by feeling like a boss ass bitch, this track might be more up your alley. Jessie J is fierce AF and will help you get those squats in even when you’re exhausted.

6. Calvin Harris, Alesso – “Under Control”


Again, electronic music is one of the best genres for gym time, in my opinion. If you weren’t feeling Avicii, maybe this Calvin Harris and Alesso collaboration will be more your style.

7. Disclosure, Aluna George – “White Noise”

If you’ve never listened to Aluna George, you have a serious void in your musical life. This electronic, pop duo is far from mainstream or ordinary. Not to mention, Disclosure is also fucking amazing. The combination of these two artists is a perfect addition to your gym-spiration soundtrack.

8. Britney Spears – “Work B**ch”


I mean, come on. How can you not put in work when Britney demands it? You got those pushups, girl keep working, you’re fierce as hell.

9. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – “Can’t Hold Us”


While Macklemore may seem like more of a “party” artist, his tracks are surprisingly motivating during a workout. The ceiling can’t hold us, and I’m talking about that glass ceiling ladies.

I’m not sure what it is about this song, but I love listening to it when I’m running. It just pushes me to that next level even when it feels like I can’t go any further.

12. Drake – “Started From The Bottom”


What better way to get motivated than realizing how far you’ve come? Just in case you forgot, Drake will remind you that you’re here now and you gotta keep on going.

13. Major Lazer – “Watch Out For This”


Major Lazer is by far one of my favorite artists to listen to when I’m at the gym. Yes, I may occasionally start dancing on one of the workout machines, but at least I’m there right?
