Another week, another update from the infamous Kardashian family. Though we typically roll our eyes at the latest Kim faux pas, this is somewhat more serious. In the early hours of Monday morning Kim Kardashian, herself, was held at gun point in a Paris hotel room. Not every detail of the incident has been made public yet, but here’s what we know so far.
According to Buzzfeed News, Kim K was held at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room.
Kim was in Paris attending Fashion Week with family when the incident occurred. Her spokesperson reported that she is physically unharmed.
“Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers,” her spokesperson said by email. “She is badly shaken but physically unharmed.”
Associated Press reports that Kardashian West was tied up and locked in the bathroom of her room.
Five men threatened the apartment building’s concierge with a weapon, handcuffed him, and forced him to open Kardashian West’s apartment, CNN says. Two of the men were able to enter her room and one held a gun to her head. She was locked in a bathroom while the men took two cell phones and jewelry worth millions of dollars, the Interior Ministry said.
Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident and that the men did not fire their weapons. A source familiar with the situation also told CNN that Kardashian’s two children, North West and Saint West, “were not present” at the time of the incident. Thank, god. Can you imagine?
More than $10 million worth of jewelry was stolen.
The prosecutor’s office said a ring worth an estimated 4 million euros ($4.49M) and other jewelry worth about 5 million euros ($5.6M) were among the items stolen.
The men then escaped on bikes and are still at large.
Kanye stopped his New York show after hearing the news.
The Meadows NYC’s official Twitter account confirmed West would not be coming back to finish his set. Kardashian West left France later Monday after speaking with police, an Interior Ministry representative told CNN.
The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo spoke out on the attack.
She condemned the attack saying Kim “will always be welcome in Paris.”
“This very rare act occurred in a private space and does not in any way call into question the work of the police and the security of the public space,” she said on Twitter.
Kim has officially returned to the states after her nightmare ordeal.
According to People, the Kardashian was greeted in New York City by husband Kanye West after leaving Paris just hours following her attack. The couple returned to their home in Manhattan in a swarm of security.
Gunilla Ebers, who owns an art studio across the street, says the scene “was out of control. Police barricades, a couple of police cars, secret service and 15 big, black Cadillac Escalades.”
Kris Jenner joined her daughter and son-in-law soon after.
