Many of us spent hours of our young adult lives delving into the story of the Baudelaire orphans, a story full of events that are, well, unfortunate to say the least. Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events follows the lamentable tales of three siblings (Violet, Klaus, and Sunny) and has become one of the most popular YA book collections following Harry Potter.
Since hearing the news that Netflix is bringing these books to life, we’ve been eagerly anticipating more updates. Finally, FINALLY the streaming service debuted its very first teaser trailer for the series and we’re beyond excited.
After what seems like forever, Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events teaser trailer is finally here.
Though I’m still partial to the first on-screen rendition (narrated by Jude Law and starring Jim Carrey as creepy Olaf), this trailer is giving me serious goosebumps. If you need me I’ll be hiding in my room re-reading each and every book in the series.
The trailer opens on none other than Lemony Snicket himself (Patrick Warburton) alluding to the deplorable tale of the Baudelaire children.
While he’s no Jude Law, we are impressed with Warburton’s woeful manner.
Snicket begins to walk around the set and it’s obvious there will be no short of ominous props.
Apparently, this includes some “Very Flammable Dandelions.”
He goes on to talk about the melancholy state of the cast and crew, when he’s interrupted by the spine tingling cackle of Count Olaf.
The evil Count will be portrayed by one of our favorites Neil Patrick Harris and we can already tell he’s getting into character.
In true Snicket fashion, the trailer ends with an ominous warning to avoid the series at all costs…as if.
That didn’t stop me from reading the series and it sure isn’t going to stop me now.
A Series Of Unfortunate Events will be released on Netflix Friday, January 13th. Yes, Friday the 13th!
