When I was a freshman in college, a sneaky raccoon made his way into the dorm showers and scared the living shit out of us, but it made for an absolutely hilarious story. Needless to say, raccoons are more social than most animals.
So, when I heard about one college student out of Kentucky’s unbelievably ridiculous encounter with a raccoon on his campus, I couldn’t stop laughing. Though I was unable to catch any pics of our sneaky shower mate, this student caught his entire escapade on camera.
19-year-old Guy Williams is a student at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
According to Buzzfeed News, Williams often sees a certain raccoon scurrying around his university campus. On Tuesday night Williams and a few of his buddies encountered the raccoon and, like any curious college student, decided to try and snap a few pics and feed it acorns.
Williams was attempting to video the furry critter (most likely for Snapchat) when it decided to steal his phone.
Apparently, this raccoon had enough of people trying to catch him up close so he nabbed the phone and ran for the hills.
Lucky for us (and the rest of the internet), William’s phone’s camera recorded the entire hilarious encounter.
When Williams was finally able to retrieve his phone, he posted the video on Twitter and it’s since been liked over 22,000 times. This might be the best thing we’ve seen on the internet in a while. That raccoon is all of us when our bf takes an ugly picture and tries to post it: NOPE.
Williams posted a second video of the raccoon running into the woods.
He told Buzzfeed that the raccoon eventually dropped the phone, and he found it by calling it. Talk about sheer dumb luck.
He also admitted to naming the raccoon Stanley, which Williams can be heard yelling in the video.
Stanley the raccoon. I don’t know what’s more hilarious, the fact that he named the raccoon or that he’s yelling Stanley at the top of his lungs.
Twitter users, much like ourselves, were Team Stanley all the way.
Fortunately, Williams followed up his video with a Tweet assuring the internet that Stanley had not been hurt.
Stanley was not harmed in the making of this video, people. This seriously needs to be turned into a children’s book: The Adventures Of Stanley The Raccoon. Needless to say, we hope to see more of Stanley’s adorable antics in the future.
