Any true dog lover knows that our lives would never be the same without their unconditional love and companionship. Coming home to a furry little face everyday who’s always excited to see you is probably the best feeling in the entire world. Even the way dogs sleep is enough to turn any bad day into a better one.
If your pup is basically your child (like mine is), you’ll be truly touched to know that a new study found our babies are usually dreaming of us when they’re curled up fast asleep.
A recent study conducted by Harvard University found that dogs typically dream about their humans.
People magazine asked a Harvard psychologist about the way human dreaming habits compare to those of their pets.
Dr. Deirdre Barrett who is a teacher and a Clinical and Evolutionary Psychologist at Harvard Medical School says that “since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or annoying you.”
Not only are they dreaming about us, but they’re dreaming about how they make us happy. *Sniffle* Does it get much sweeter than that?
When asked what owners can do to give their dogs even better dreams, Barrett said it’s similar to how you would help your children (because our dogs are our kids.)
“The best way to give ourselves or our children better dreams is to have happy daytime experiences and to get plenty of sleep in a safe and comfortable environment. It’s a good bet this is also best for pets’ dreams,” says Barrett.
Upon reading this study, dog owners all over the internet have been overflowing with emotion and pics of their adorable sleeping pups.
So. Much. Cute.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
