Sometimes, during the current avalanche of vitriol that is this election season, it’s nice to remind ourselves of the brighter, funnier things in life.
Fortunately for all of us, our joy has officially been restored: President Barack Obama stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to participate in yet another round of “#MeanTweets.”
Now, serving as the POTUS requires an individual to have pretty thick skin (and a “winning temperament,” of course) — so it’s really no surprise that Obama handled the slew of bitchy tweets with admirable class and aplomb.
Some of the notably ridiculous mean tweets included: “I bet Obama likes mustard on his hotdogs because hes gross,” and “My mom bought new conditioner and it sucks it isn’t even conditioning my hair I blame Obama.”
While Obama was mostly content to let his facial expressions do the talking, he did have a few choice responses to some of the mean tweets.
One Twitter user dared to ask the current President, “Bro … do you even lift!?,” to which Obama seamlessly replied, “Well, I lifted the ban on Cuban cigars — that’s worth something.”
But the zinger of the evening came when Obama read out one particularly nasty tweet from Donald Trump himself, which claimed that “President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States!”
“Well … at least I will go down as a President.”
(I know that GIF is older than the internet itself, but it’s really the only acceptable response to such a sweet burn.)
Thanks for giving us a nice and delightful distraction from the current presidential election/national garbage fire, Obama. We all needed it.
