11 Last-Minute Halloween Looks Using Makeup You Already Own

Look, we’ve all been there: you’re stuck at work, you have to go to a Halloween party later, and there’s no way you’re going to have time to come up with a with a truly stellar costume. How the hell are you supposed to compete with all the other girls who have been planning their Halloween costumes for months??

Simple: just use the makeup you already have to create an awesome look that will satisfy the Halloween Party Gods and also satisfy your lazy girl way of life.

1. Morticia Addams

Anjelica Huston would be very proud of this silver eye shadow and burgundy lipstick combination. You may need to grab a slightly lighter foundation than you would normally use, but the good news is that you can always recycle it as a highlighter.

2. Cleopatra

Channel your inner Elizabeth Taylor by layering on the jewel-toned eyeshadow and going overboard with your liquid eyeliner. Make sure you use a makeup setting spray, though, or this eye makeup could end up all over your place before the night is over.

3. Rag Doll

Using an eye pencil or liquid eyeliner, create the effect of wide eye and a sutured mouth. The results look great (and creepy) and doesn’t require any extra makeup purchases on your behalf.

4. Jessica Rabbit

Embody the iconic cartoon mistress with some dramatically drawn-on eyebrows, generous purple eyeshadow, and some overdrawn red lips. Don’t forget to drape your hair over one eye for effect!

5. Kitten

Not only does this feline makeup look sexy, it’s also ridiculously easy. All you really need is some smoky eye makeup and dark liquid eyeliner to create this kitten-face, and you’re set.

6. Creepy Mermaid

If you’re freaked out about the though of creating fish scales on your face, don’t be — it’s actually really simple. All you need is a pair of fishnet stockings to pull over your head (just bear with me, here), which then become the stencil for any mermaid-colored eyeshadow you might have.

7. Holly Golightly

Dressing up as Audrey Hepburn’s iconic character from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is totally a costume option, and don’t let any haters tell you otherwise. Use an eyebrow pencil to create those iconic Hepburn brows, toss on a black dress and some pearls, and you’re good to go.

8. Alex from A Clockwork Orange

Could this costume be any easier?? Just create a black starburst around the eye, put on a black bowler hat and a white shirt, and prepare for a bunch of dudes to talk to you about how they “love that movie.”

9. Salem Witch

While this look is more intricate, you can totally achieve it with your average makeup kit (although purchasing some black lipstick maaaaay be in order). Not only will you look spooky AF, but you’ll also look kind of glam, too — two bird with one stone, am I right?

10. Marilyn Monroe

Perhaps a bit too predictable of a costume, but perfect when you are short on time and out of ideas. Plus, if you do the makeup well enough, this look can really be a show-stopper. Just make sure you practice your breathy singing to complete the full effect.

11. Justin Bieber

You will, without question, be the hit of the evening with this Bieber-inspired look. While it requires a lot of contouring and filling in your eyebrows, the results make it well worth the effort. Yes, you will probably want to purchase sunglasses and a flat brim cap — but isn’t that a small sacrifice to make for a truly epic costume??
