Country music stars are some of the most popular musicians on earth. Even if you utterly loathe the entire genre, you’ve definitely heard of people like Dolly Parton or Willie Nelson. They’re big name celebrities with larger than life personas, and that’s probably why the team at Jimmy Kimmel Live! thought it’d be funny to knock ’em down a few pegs during the latest edition of “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets.”
In honor of last night’s Country Music Awards, some of the genre’s biggest names were asked to read for Kimmel’s second installment of Mean Tweets: Country Music Edition.
The results were just as hilarious as you’d expect, and no one—not even the most legendary performers—was left unsavaged. Turns out even fame and bodyguards can’t protect you from Twitter trolls, but given how funny this segment is, we’re kind of glad that’s the case. Here are some highlights from the takedowns:
Trace Adkins learned he’s actually a no-talent hack. He’ll have to dry his tears with platinum records and hundred dollar bills.
Little Big Town just realized their bandmate is a low-key Jacobim Mugatu.
Miranda Lambert learned that her fivehead is an integral part of aviation safety.
Bonnie Raitt wants to know which of her family members tweeted this.
Someone called Willie Nelson old, and he looked genuinely surprised.
Some rando called Dolly a hooker, and she was like, “Yeah? So?” Slay, Queen.
There was some laughing and fake crying, but singer Cassadee Pope best summed up the country stars’ reactions when she let this bird fly.
