With the impending doom of the 2016 election just around the corner, we have plenty to be negative about. However, instead of spending our time drowning in pessimism and collectively sighing at every incredulous headline that crosses our tiny black screens, why not focus on something positive?
Yes, I realize you’re probably already rolling your eyes at me and that’s fine. I’ve accepted the fact that not everyone appreciates my optimistic nature, but it is what it is. So, this week while many of you may have focused your attention on less than pleasant news, these are a few people that brought a smile to our faces.
1. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
Pikachu is baby Jasmine's FAVORITE character. So, for Halloween me and @laurenhashianofficial decided the real life Pikachu was gonna come to the house for a visit. What Pikachu didn't know was that Jazzy would start crying when he stopped dancing and demanded he continue to shake his tail with a loud "EH!". So, Pikachu danced over.. and over.. and over.. and over… and over.. again. By the time I dropped my 197th JuJu, the heat of this costume was kickin' my ass.😂 But, hey.. that's what daddy's do. #HappyHalloween #DaddyBlessedWithThatKnuckAndBuckStamina #NoLimitsWhenItComesToMakinEmHappy
Though he’s notorious for his muscular build and hard-ass demeanor, The Rock warmed all of our hearts (and other parts of us) earlier this week when he dressed up as his daughter’s favorite character for Halloween.
9-month-old Jasmine isn’t quite old enough for trick-or-treating so The Rock donned a Pikachu outfit and began to dance for her. Even though that outfit was hot AF, he continued to dance for hours to keep his little girl happy and it was too cute to handle.
2. Keira Knightley
Known best for her performances in major films including Pride & Prejudice, Love Actually, and Pirates of the Caribbean, British beauty Keira Knightley is set to be the cover model for Harper’s Bazaar UK‘s December issue.
In a recent interview with the publication, Knightley spoke candidly about gender inequalities, childcare and her family. She specifically talked about how ridiculous the expectations are for recent mothers to return to their pre-pregnancy bodies.
It’s a different body, as it should be, because it’s done an extraordinary thing…I thought I was going to go, “God, I’ve got to get back into shape.” I actually went completely the opposite. I went, “F**k that, I’m not putting that pressure on myself in any way.”
Yassss girl, yass.
3. Mila Kunis
Known for being an all around badass female in Hollywood who’s never afraid to speak her mind, Mila Kunis penned an open letter to a sexist producer via A Plus earlier this week. Said producer actually scolded her for not wanting to participate in a half-nude photoshoot.
Needless to say, Kunis clapped back in a spectacular fashion, signing of her letter by directly addressing the producer in question and writing, “I will work in this town again, but I will not work with you.”
*Mic fucking drop*
4. Ryan Reynolds
In an recent appearance on Conan, the one and only drop-dead gorgeous Ryan Reynolds accidentally let slip the gender of his second child and it was unbelievably adorable. Though Blake Lively wasn’t too happy with her hubby for letting the world in on what she had hoped would be a surprise, we can’t really blame Reynolds.
The Deadpool star is about to be seriously outnumbered in a household full of women, but he seems to be excited about it.
“It’s like an American Girl doll took a shit on my life.”
5. J.K. Rowling
Other than the fact that she will always be our all-time favorite author to ever exist, J.K. Rowling is also an advocate for social justice. Rowling’s basically an all around badass and she often uses her highly engaged social platforms to speak out against injustices in the media.
A recent article published by the Daily Mail used the phrase “openly gay” as a slur and Rowling had the best possible response.
