If you were wondering whether or not 2016 is the result of a bizarre, alternate reality that we’ve all been sucked into, your suspicions have just been confirmed: Kendall Jenner has suddenly and unexpectedly deactivated her Instagram account.
I know. Nothing makes sense anymore.
The reasons as to why remain unclear at this point. After all, Kendall disabled comments on her Instagram account after receiving criticism for the snapshots of her ballerina-themed photoshoot with Vogue, so the move doesn’t seem to be a response to a nasty Instagram comment storm.
Perhaps Kendall is just hoping to take a moment of silence as everyone continues to deal with the results of the 2016 presidential election? Perhaps she’s attempting to use her celebrity status as a platform for social good, rather than social media?
The more likely response, however, is that she’s simply going AWOL to distance herself from the highly-addictive app. In an interview with Allure earlier this year, Kendall described how her sister Kylie couldn’t tear herself away from her Instagram account during a family vacation.
“It was the first time we had ever been to this beautiful place, and we were sitting in a car,” she said. “I was just zoning out, taking it all in. And Kylie wouldn’t put her phone down. I’m like, ‘That’s so crazy to me that you’re not experiencing this.’ That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn’t like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.”
So, in all likelihood, Kendall is just taking some time off — because, like all of us, she has probably f*cking had it with this year.
Until she returns to Instagram, however, we can still use this time to reflect on some of her timeless photos that will always live on in our hearts, even if they can’t live on in our newsfeeds.
R.I.P. the pics from Kendall’s highly controversial ballet photoshoot with Vogue.
We remember Kendall’s celebratory nipple pic, which she shared when she reached 40 million followers.
Let us all take a moment of silence for this amazing bikini pic, which most of the internet speculated was Photoshopped.
And, of course, who could forget when she (temporarily) won the title of the “most-liked post on Instagram” with this bizarre pic?
Return soon, Kendall. We’re running out of trivialities to distract us from the current state of our nation.
