If you’re a Kardashian fan who celebrated when Kourtney fiiiiinally kicked Scott to the curb, because he behaves like a a man-child who cannot stop partying no matter how much older he gets or many children he fathers, then today may be a dark day for you. On the other hand, if you have been rooting for the pair to get it together—either because you are a hopeless romantic and/or you’d hope Scott would grow TF up for the sake of little Mason, Penelope, and Reign, then good news!
According to E! News, two sources have confirmed that Kourtney and Scott are officially back together.
They’ve actually been back on for a few months, but they’re not living together—contrary to other reports, it seems. But they’ve been spending a lot of time one-on-one, the site reports.
An “insider” confirmed, “They are back together and giving their relationship a try again.” And apparently, this has come to be, because, according to the source, “Scott’s mellowed out a lot and hasn’t been partying.”
The other source says that of course the kids play a role, noting that the couple “both want to make it work for them and their kids.”
Fans suspected they may be getting back together when they were photographed on vacation in Mexico just a few weeks ago. Then again, without confirmation like we just got today, you may have just assumed, Oh, they’re amicably co-parenting! It’s platonic! For the sake of the kiddos!
I don’t mean to sound totally cynical, but I feel like we’ve seen this before so many times. Scott goes overboard with the drinking and partying, Kourtney puts her foot down, Scott says he’s sorry and says he will change, she takes him back, rinse, repeat.
Only this time, they were apart for a lot longer than ever before—after 9 years together, they broke up in July 2015—so they’ve definitely both had a chance to see what separate lives look like. And maybe in response to that, Scott was truly compelled to shape up? (He did go to rehab shortly after their split.) Either way, would be sweet to see them in happy and healthy family mode—for good.
No doubt that’s a priority for them both. As Kourtney told Ellen Degeneres during an interview last January, “I feel like every day is different, but we’re totally getting along. Like, we have three beautiful kids together…But, you know, he’s family. He’ll always be.”
