Of *Course* The ‘Harry Potter’ Cast Members Have A Group Chat, And We Are All Missing Out

We all secretly hope that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is somehow real — but even if it’s just fantasy (*sob*), at least we have the consolation prize of knowing that Hogwarts students are actually friends IRL.

Emma Watson, AKA Hermione Granger herself, recently mentioned in an interview that she started a WhatsApp chat between the main Harry Potter cast members in order to invite them to various Beauty and the Beast premiere dates. Apparently, getting all of the Harry Potter alumni in the same place at the same time is as much of a challenge as “catching Pokémon.”

Which is a funny joke and all, but HOLD UP, let’s focus on the most important aspect of this entire interview, which is that Emma Watson just confirmed that the Harry Potter actors do indeed HAVE A GROUP CHAT.

Things I imagine the Harry Potter cast probably do on their WhatsApp:

  1. Muse about how they’ve all gotten weirdly hot.
  2. Repeatedly ask one another, “What ever happened to Rupert Grint? Is he okay?”
  3. Make wizard-themed sex puns.
  4. Ask each other if J.K. Rowling is ever going to accept the invite to their group chat.
  5. Argue over whether or not Hufflepuff is the worst house.

While we may never know what specifically goes on in the Harry Potter WhatsApp (and yes, I will be bitter about this fact to my dying day), Emma did confirm that the group chat convinced Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) to attend the Los Angeles premiere, and everyone got to have a mini-Hogwarts reunion of sorts.

I’m still suffering from extreme FOMO, but it’s also lovely to know that the cast is still buds. And now, I will sit back and await my WhatsApp invite or Hogwarts owl, whichever comes first.
