Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon And Their Bachelorette Party Accidentally Murder A Guy In The New Trailer For ‘Rough Night’

If you saw the movie Bachelorette (starring Kristen Dunst, Isla Fisher and Lizzie Caplan, not to be confused with the wildly-popular TV show), then you are well-aware of how many female-driven comedies attempt to ape the wildly successful Bridesmaids — with typically mixed to negative results.

Let’s face it, the whole “group of friends gather together to celebrate their last night of craziness before w friend’s wedding” trope has been played out to death. But what if you actually added … death?

In the new red band trailer for Rough Night, starring Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer and Zoë Kravitz, the writers behind Broad City mix the predictable cocktail of female debauchery with a frantic attempt to cover up the accidental murder of a stripper — with darkly hilarious results.

Scarlett Johansson plays the bride-to-be, Jess, who ventures down to Miami with her former college BFFs to have the blowout bachelorette party of their dreams. A few drinks and hits of cocaine later, however, the whole weekend takes a turn when the friends accidentally kill the male stripper they hired for Jess.

The friends then embark on the longest night of their lives as they attempt to cover their tracks and get rid of the body — and maybe even salvage their estranged friendships in the process.

The best part of this whole movie is that it’s actually being helmed by a woman: Lucia Aniello, one of the writers on Broad City, co-wrote the film with her partner (and Broad City actor) Paul Downs, and Rough Night is her directorial debut.

The verdict on the movie is still out, but the whole conceit has the potential to be brilliant, and the cast is pretty stacked. And since the whole thing is rated R, I imagine we’re going to get some brilliant Kate McKinnon ad-libs.
