Though spring has just arrived, prom season appears to already be in full swing. It’s usually around this time of year that our newsfeeds become over-inundated with stories about this cheesy promposal and that adorable couple. However, there is one unbelievably sweet promposal that is standing out among the rest and it will without a doubt make your day.
One high schooler in Kansas is capturing hearts everywhere with his unbelievably sweet promposal.
18-year-old Shaedon Wedel is a senior high school student from Newton, Kansas who was looking for the perfect way to ask his date to prom. According to BuzzFeed News, Shaedon has been friends with his date, Carlie, for many years because he is best friends with her brother.
Carlie’s mom Angie Wittman told BuzzFeed that Carlie, who has Down syndrome, wanted to go to the dance because her brother, Carson, and his girlfriend were going. However, Carlie’s mom told her that she could only attend if she was asked to prom since she’s still a freshman.
“She was sad about it because Carson was going and she wasn’t,” Angie said.
Unbeknownst to Carlie, Shaedon had been planning to ask her to prom for quite some time.
After receiving permission from Carlie’s parents, he came up with the cheesiest of promposals centered around Carlie’s favorite snack: Doritos.
“In order to make her prom as special as possible, I decided to go all out from the beginning,” he told BuzzFeed News. “I made the shirt myself and made the saying myself as well. I decided on the Doritos theme because I have known her for seven years and there has not been a day that I have not seen her eat Doritos. She absolutely loves them.”
Let’s just say, Carlie was pretty excited.
Look at that face! Doritos and a date to prom, what more could a girl ask for?
Carlie’s mom said that she is beyond excited and wants a cinderella dress to wear for the dance.
“She sees that as being the perfect night,” she said.
And Shaedon wants nothing more than to make Carlie’s prom experience magical.
“She says she wants to be a princess like Cinderella,” he said, “and it would mean everything to make her feel that way.”
Fortunately, Shaedon shared this precious moment on Twitter.
He captioned the photos: “Can’t wait for prom with this sweet gal.”
And everyone fell in love.
I might just need a minute.
