The Girl Who Made This Starburst Wrapper Dress Belongs In The DIY Hall Of Fame

Usually our favorite DIY projects end with a fail. Not because we want people to be disappointed but because it shows the human side of trying and not always succeeding, which is quite relatable. But it’s great to appreciate the successful side of creating badass pieces and we’re happy to have stumbled upon an incredibly creative artist that is about to break the Internet.

Meet Emily Seilhamer, a woman that just brought DIY dresses to the next level. She is an artist known for crafting unconventional creations with a passion of painting, upcycling, sewing, and crafting.

Emily took to Facebook to explain her 4-year dress creation which will prove her latest masterpiece is one for the books.

“I’ve been saving Starburst wrappers diligently (with the help of friends and family) for 4 years to create this dress. After enough were saved I organized them into colors, ironed them, folded them into links, and made candy wrapper chains.”

She used elastic thread to create the Starburst fabric.

But the best part about this is that her inspiration was inspired by love.

“My husband and I met when he offered me a pack of Starburst a few years before the project started. As his favorite candy he began to save grocery bags full of wrappers for me… The dress had a nice spot next to the gift table at our wedding almost 2 years ago!”
