Thus far, Katy Perry’s recent singles have been pretty underwhelming. “Chained to the Rhythm” was somewhat unremarkable, while “Bon Apétit” only made it to #76 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. However, her newest release, “Swish Swish,” which features Nicki Minaj and is considered by many to be a Taylor Swift diss track, has been garnering considerable attention — in particular, from Orange Is The New Black star Ruby Rose.
Rose, a prominent member of Taylor Swift’s collection of beautiful women known as her “squad,” took to Twitter last night to drag Perry for her very public feuding with Swift. Rose insulted Perry’s upcoming album, “Witness,” as well as her “sloppy” songwriting.
Rose threw out some fightin’ words, renaming Perry’s foray into “purposeful pop” as “purposeful poop,” and dubbing “Bon Apétit” as “Bomb Apétit.” (She’s an actor, not a comedian, okay?)
Although she was quick to add that her vitriol was not aimed at Nicki Minaj.
NO OFFENSE INTENDED, NICKI.
Rose went on to say that she felt it was hypocritical for Perry to pose as being “politically active” while also acting so intensely petty.
She claimed that Perry’s diss track (and, I guess, her general dislike for Taylor Swift?) was mean-spirited.
However, Katy fans were quick to point out that Taylor wasn’t exactly playing nice with the release of “Bad Blood.” (A song which many suspect was aimed right at Perry.)
Rose wasn’t here for the criticism though, and didn’t hesitate to pull out the big guns with one last dig at both Perry and her fans.
It’s admirable for Ruby Rose to stand up for one of her friends when someone writes a pretty pointed diss track — but, when that friend is also responsible for writing diss tracks of her own, perhaps it’s time to take a step back and let the two pop divas duke it out between themselves.
