13 early 2000s songs that were definitely your ring back (if you were lucky enough to have a ring back)

Back in the day—well back in the early 2000s before smartphones, there were only a few ways for teens to personalize their mobile devices. For the extra cool kids, this included picking one of the hottest tracks to play as a ringback tone.

This way, instead of listening to a boring old ring while anxiously waiting for your friend to pick up so you could go to the movies, you could instead jam out to your favorite tune. I never purchased a ringback tone, but those of my friends who did definitely had one or multiple of the following songs.

1. *NSYNC – “Bye, Bye, Bye”

2. Britney Spears – “Oops! . . . I Did It Again”

3. Usher – “Yeah!”

4. OutKast – “Hey Ya!”

5. 50 Cent – “In Da Club”

6. Pink – “Get The Party Started”

7. Nelly – “Hot in Herre”

8. Kelis – “Milkshake”

9. Gwen Stefani – “Hollaback Girl”

10. Ying Yang Twins – “Wait (The Whisper Song)”

11. Beyoncé – “Crazy In Love ft. JAY Z”

12. Destiny’s Child – “Say My Name”

13. Snoop Dogg ft Pharrell Williams – “Drop It Like It’s Hot”
