What does Kelly Cuoco do when she’s not filming the dear-God-it’s-never-going-to-end Big Bang Theory? Well, apparently she indulges her inner Parks and Recreation heroine, Leslie Knope, and adopts mini horses — which is, arguably, the cutest pastime ever.
Cuoco recently became a loving horse-parent to a rescued dwarf miniature horse from The Peeps Foundation, an organization which is “dedicated to rescuing dwarf mini’s with special needs and giving them a forever home.”
Cuoco created a new Instagram for the little horse, who is named “Shmooshy.” (Because of his adorable “shmooshed” nose, naturally.)
Hi! my name is Shmooshy! I'm a dwarf mini who's been rescued and living @mylittlepeepers foundation 🎀 a few days ago this crazy girl @normancook walked in with my same hairstyle, and we became instant soul mates . She adopted me and now Iam heading to LA to start my new life! Wahooo!!!!! Oh they call me Shmoosh cause my nose is all shmooshed 🦄
According to Shmooshy’s Instagram, Cuoco knew that she had found the right miniature horse when she realized the two of them were sporting the same hairstyle. (Which is obviously an auspicious sign when horse-shopping.)
Shmooshy is now living his best life and enjoying the sunshine in Los Angeles.
It’s pretty clear from the magic between these two that we should all be expecting a “Kelly and Shmooshy” show any day now.
In all seriousness, it’s pretty heartening that Cuoco is bringing light to the importance of rescuing animals. According to HelloGiggles, miniature horses can be sold for as much as $1,500-$3,500, so it’s kind of baffling that anyone considering owning one of these little equines wouldn’t want to rescue one and give him/her a good home.
Congrats on your new horse-child, Kelly. He may not be Lil’ Sebastian, but he’s pretty darn close.
