Last week, ABC released the first official cast list for the upcoming season of Bachelor In Paradise and we were unsurprised by several of the chosen contestants. It’s no secret that the show’s producers often select previous Bachelor/Bachelorette candidates who were known for initiating juicy drama on past seasons—like the infamous Corinne Olympios.
While we expected this season to be full of catty tension, we certainly did not anticipate production getting shut down only a week into filming due to “misconduct” between Olympios and another cast member. Bachelor Nation might need a minute for this.
Bachelor In Paradise production has been officially halted due to allegations of misconduct among cast members.
Warner Bros. confirmed to BuzzFeed News today that production of the fourth season of BIP has been stalled while they investigate allegations of misconduct.
LA Times reporter Amy Kaufman tweeted that a source near the series said the alleged misconduct involves a sexual encounter between DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios.
The interaction was supposedly witnessed by a producer who chose to file a third party complaint.
Another BIP source told People that “it appears as though conduct allegedly occurred without the proper consent having been given.”
A contestant on the show also informed People that two other cast members saw the interaction and “are upset that crew members did not do more to stop the incident.”
Obviously, there are several occurrences on these reality shows that are less than appropriate, but this is deeply concerning.
TMZ reported, after speaking with a source, on DeMario’s alleged perception of the incident.
“DeMario says Corinne then suggested they retreat to the pool, with the cameras rolling. They took off their clothes, started making out and ‘rubbing, touching and fingering.’ He says she put her genitals in his face and he began licking, but we’re told this allegation is a big point of contention and others disagree with his account. He says he was not able to engage in intercourse because of the alcohol,” TMZ reports.
Corinne has yet to comment on the incident.
Claudia Oshry AKA @girlwithnojob, who is friends with Corinne, spoke about the incident on her Monday morning show.
“Our sources have said that along with a lot of weird things that happened that night is that Corinne was not in a state of mind where she could have been consensual and there were cameras rolling while it was happening.”
“The part that’s unclear is a producer was either watching while it happened and didn’t do anything or, we were also told, a producer was watching while it happened, tried to stop it, and was told by production to hold back,” Oshry said.
Oshry’s co-host, her sister Jackie, also said that when Jackson and Olympios were shown footage of the alleged incident, it was “the first time Corinne knew about it.”
Needless to say, production was suspended while Warner Bros. launches a full investigation and the remaining contestants were sent home in the meantime.
Though the focus of this incident is on Corinne and DeMario, I happened to notice something when looking at this cast photo. A contestant who is currently still on Rachel Lindsay’s season (as far as viewers are concerned) Jack Stone is pictured here. Spoiler much???
I guess Rachel wasn’t feeling the chemistry there. Maybe Jack will have better luck on BIP—if they don’t cancel the show altogether that is.
