For some, the marriage of their best friend is a source of vicarious excitement. For others, the engagement news is merely a harbinger of impending friendship doom. Because how are BFFs supposed to hang out all the time if there’s a pesky spouse in the mix?
Recently, one couple decided to embrace this phenomenon by incorporating the groom’s best friend into their engagement and wedding photos. The results were a funny (albeit corny) reminder that a good sense of humor and a sense of inclusiveness is the key to balancing your friendships with your relationship.
Lindsey Berger, of Country Roads Photography, did an engagement photoshoot with a couple who wanted the groom’s bestie, Mitch, incorporated into the pics as the buddy who wasn’t too eager to see his pal married off.
The shoes tell the true story.
They even decided to have Mitch show up in one of the wedding photos, where he did an excellent impersonation of a sore loser.
Country Roads Photography shared the pics to their Facebook page, with the caption “Well, we all know that Mitch wasn’t easily letting his best friend go … but, I think he handled it rather well.”
The Facebook post went viral, and was shared over 138,000 times.
Though people were highly entertained by the photos, some commenters also felt the need to point out that marriage doesn’t have to be a zero-sum game when it comes to friendships — you can indeed have a best friend and a spouse.
Because after all, why would you marry someone who didn’t want you to hang out with your friends? Isn’t that an important factor in the soulmate equation?
Here’s hoping that this bride is chill enough to not get in the way of Mitch’s bromance with her husband. Which, considering the fact that she was willing to let him upstage her in some of her wedding photos, seems pretty likely.
