Instead of a flower girl, this bride and groom had a full-grown ‘flower man’

The tradition of having a flower girl at your wedding is admittedly adorable — but, you’re also opening your ceremony up to the possibility of wandering children having temper tantrums in the middle of the aisle or pelting people with flower petals. (You’ve watched America’s Funniest Home Videos. You know it can happen.)

That’s why one couple’s decision to replace the expected flower girl in their wedding with a “flower MAN was pure genius.

Patrick Casey was approached by his cousin Andria to be the flower man at her wedding — a proposition he happily accepted. Even though guests may have had some misgivings, Patrick says that they were ultimately charmed.

“I’m pretty sure (guests) were won over when I got to the end of the aisle and then proceeded to pull out flowers I had stocked in my pants’ pockets and did a LeBron powder toss with them,” he told BuzzFeed. “There was an ovation.”

To be clear: Patrick did not choose to pull this flower man stunt without the happy couple’s blessing. “They FULLY encouraged me to do all of this. I would have never done anything to take attention away from them if they didn’t want me to.”

So, if you’re wanting some extra giggles at your wedding (because having a grown man walking down the aisle and tossing rose petals in the air will definitely elicit some giggles), then perhaps a flower man is the right choice for your own wedding. However, Patrick concedes that the funniest option may not necessarily be the most adorable one.

“I’d argue that commemorating the (likely) most important day of your life up until that point with some levity is a good thing!” he told BuzzFeed. “I SUPPOSE it’s also possible (if extremely unlikely) that there are usually many children up for the job who are a lot cuter than me.”
