Sisqo and Jcy just released an EDM remake of 1999 hit ‘Thong Song,’ and I dare you to not get excited

If you were wondering when all the recent rebooting of ’90s mainstays is going to end, the answer is: NEVER. We are rolling deep in nostalgia, y’all, and there is no end in sight.

If you needed further proof of this, allow me to direct you to Sisqo’s 1999 hit, “Thong Song,” which was recently rebooted as an EDM song.

I know — your inner ’90s kid is shrieking. And, fortunately for you, the new song also has an accompanying music video, filled with thong bikinis and champagne bottles (because some music video imagery is timeless).

Some initial thoughts after watching this video:

  • I believe this music video satisfies the requisite number of lady-butts expected of a song entitled “Thong Song.”
  • Sisqo still has moves, y’all.
  • There are lots of swimsuits in this video, which reminds me of the fact that I need to buy a new swimsuit.
  • A 1980s-style roller rink is the perfect location for any music video, period.
  • I’m still annoyed over how catchy this song is, despite the fact that the chorus is literally “thong th-thong thong thong.”

So, why now? Why a new “Thong Song”?

“I’ve been asked so many times over the years to make a new version of ‘Thong Song,’ and I have declined every time until I heard the new version that Jcy did,” Sisqo told BuzzFeed.

Ah. So, Sisqo’s reasons for rebooting the song are totally pure and artistic. And by that, I mean the opposite of that.

“I thought it was dope and figured maybe it was time to put some new rims on the Bugatti,” he added.

Welp. The EDM version is so damn catchy that it seems like this reboot may have come at just the right time. I’m very happy for Sisqo and his Bugatti.
