If you’ve been privy to recent entertainment news, then you are well-aware that HBO’s network servers were hacked and 1.5 terabytes of data were stolen. However, it was recently discovered that this breach could have remarkable consequences for Game of Thrones fans, as several unaired episodes have already been posted online.
According to cybercrime news site Hack Read, the hacks have been uploaded onto a website called WinterLeak.
As Hack Read reports:
The uploaded data includes unreleased episode 3 and 4 of popular TV series ‘Games of Thrones’ Season 7 and its script, episode 1, 2 and 3 of ‘Ballers’ season 3, Episode 1 and 2 of upcoming comedy series ‘Barry,’ unreleased Episode 2 and 3 of ‘Room 104’ TV series, episode 2 of Season 2 of TV series ‘Insecure.’
Yes, that’s correct. Full, unaired episodes of HBO shows, including Game of Thrones, have leaked online — which means that you could very well be fending off spoiler alerts left and right in the coming days.
There are also three other files on the site entitled “HBO is Falling,” as well as a file of personal passwords for HBO’s Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs, Viviane Eisenberg.
“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information,” the company said in a statement earlier this week. “We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”
The WinterLeaks site contains the phrase “To be continued,” though … so it’s highly likely that more leaks are coming (just like Winter).
And if there are more Game of Thrones episodes being leaked early, then all hell is about to break loose.
