While a thoughtful act, gift-giving is often times a very stressful endeavor—particularly when you’re shopping for your significant other. What do they really want? Or should I get them something practical? What does this gift say about my feelings toward them? Am I sending the right message? And so on and so forth.
Fortunately, finding a present for your loved one no longer has to be and endless tirade of questioning and anxiety. Thanks to this man, who has secretly been following his wife’s Pinterest account for years and selecting the perfect gifts for every occasion. Bless you, sir.
Jordan and TyAnna from Westfield, New Jersey were dating for about 3 years before tying the knot this March.
Jordan told BuzzFeed News that he had his eye on TyAnna long before they got together.
“I had been trying to convince TyAnna to let me take her on a proper date,” he said. “She finally said yes for Valentine’s Day our senior year.”
That’s pretty adorable.
When Jordan finally scored a date with his dream girl back in 2014, he struggled to decide on the perfect gift.
Fortunately, a mutual friended suggested he check out TyAnna’s Pinterest page for inspiration. “I had never even heard of [Pinterest] before,” Jordan admitted.
While this is an extremely sweet gesture on Jordan’s behalf, I sincerely hope no one decides to go through my Pinterest page for ideas because that thing hasn’t been updated in a hot minute. ‘Surprise, here’s that life-size cutout of Jared Leto you wanted!’ Yikes.
Like a true internet sleuth, Jordan created a generic Pinterest page to allow him to peruse TyAnna’s boards incognito.
Clever username there, Jordan.
Though he doesn’t use the board for his own posting, Jordan will often follow other pages like his wife’s to get ideas.
“She’s picky and she likes things that tend to be small or handmade … so I like to get things right the first time,” he said.
Over the years, Jordan says he’s gifted TyAnna “a sapphire nose ring, lip glosses, and earrings” inspired by her Pinterest pins.
It wasn’t until last Saturday that Jordan finally revealed his “hack” to the world and TyAnna.
His tweet was in response to a question posed by the activist Deray Mckesson who asked if Pinterest was still relevant.
His tweet quickly went viral with more than 87K retweets and couples everywhere were impressed.
One user joked that maybe TyAnna has known all along.
He’s got a point…
Either way, TyAnna knows Jordan’s secret now and could not be more appreciative.
“I thought it was really really sweet but I wasn’t surprised because Jordan really goes the extra mile to make me happy,” TyAnna said.
“The Pinterest thing has definitely been working for him. He buys me amazing gifts,” she added.
Jordan also offered this heartfelt advice to couples everywhere.
“You don’t have to be committed to giving gifts if you don’t have the money or if your significant other isn’t big on gifts,” he said.
“Get to know the person and commit to making them happy how they want to be made happy — not how you want them to receive it.”
So. Damn. Sweet.
