The promise of optical illusions always causes me to roll my eyes and scoff … before I helplessly click on the link and fall down a rabbit hole of brain-melting images.
This black and white image is no exception.
A recent optical illusion posted in the r/interestingasfuck subreddit has people scratching their heads in confusion. The design apparently contains 16 different circles, but (as you can see) the image seemingly only contains squares and rectangles.
Can YOU find the 16 circles?
It can definitely be baffling, depending on where your eyes choose to focus.
If you want to reveal the answer, scroll ahead — otherwise, turn back!
See it now? Are you incredibly frustrated that you didn’t spot them before? Well, don’t worry — you’re not alone.
“I was angry and skeptical thinking I was being trolled and I didn’t really want even try looking but I did and they are truly there….the vertical lines in between the boxes make for kinda pixelated circles,” Reddit user chuuckaduuck wrote in the comments.
Some people were totally annoyed that there weren’t actual round lines in the image.
“I might just be mad that I couldn’t see them for at least a minute, but I was looking for, I don’t know, ROUND LINES LIKE IN A CIRCLE? This is bullshit. I both hate and love this,” Rockeydoom commented.
Then again, some people saw the circles immediately … but couldn’t spot the rectangles.
“Oddly enough, when I first saw this, I only saw 16 circles … Then suddenly I saw rectangles. Opposite effect,” cwbrumme wrote.
So, regardless of what you spotted, don’t worry: you’re in good company.
