Chrissy Teigen is always up for being frank and honest when it comes to her thoughts, feelings and personal struggles. She is always ready to spit the truth — even if the truth isn’t pretty.
Though it may come as a surprise to many of her fans, Teigen has even admitted to feeling incredibly insecure about her body, despite the fact that she used to be a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, and is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
During a recent panel at Los Angeles’ Beautycon, Teigen opened up about her insecurities surrounding body image and the unreasonable standards set by Instagram influencers.
“There have been times I’ve cried to John, where I felt like I would never have ‘that’ body,” Teigen says. “Everyone has a butt now, and curves, and a little waist, and that’s not me … I’m jealous of those bodies and I want that, but I also feel like I really want to be cool with my body because of people like you guys … That’s why I don’t post many makeup selfies, because I don’t feel anyone knows what a real face looks like anymore, and it kills me that we have to completely wash a face or body out for it to get likes.”
She also added that she frequently experiences feelings of inadequacy when looking at photos of other women, which is kind of mind boggling to hear, when you consider that Chrissy Teigen is literally a professional model.
“My old ass will go on social media, and I will look at the Photoshopping, Facetuning, and the apps — and everything that goes into creating what is now a hit Instagram photo — and I feel insanely inadequate.”
So, even if the unreasonably perfect images on Instagram get you down, don’t fret — because, as it turns out, everybody feels a little bit inadequate when they compare themselves to unreal photos.
