Selena Gomez is the most-followed person on Instagram, with roughly 125 million followers. However, being in such a coveted and visible position also makes Gomez’s social media susceptible to tampering.
Earlier today, Gomez’s Instagram account was swiftly taken down after hackers apparently assumed control of the account and posted nudes of Gomez’s ex, Justin Bieber.
The photos in question were from Bieber’s trip to Bora Bora in 2015, where he famously walked outside sans clothing, much to the delight of the hidden paparazzi.
The photos were posted (without the blue bubbles) along with the caption, “LOOK AT THIS N*GGA LIL SHRIMPY” and a slew of skull and laughing emoji.
The caption credited three Instagram accounts with the hacking, although thus far only one account seems to be taking credit. (We don’t really want to give these accounts attention or credit for hacking into someone’s personal social media account, which is why we’re obscuring their Instagram handles. Don’t feed the haters, y’all.)
Bieber and Gomez have been publicly broken up for at least a year, and Gomez is currently dating The Weeknd.
No one has issued a statement on the hacks yet, but there’s a very strong chance Selena will comment on the privacy violation in the near future.
