If you’ve never seen HGTV’s hit show Fixer Upper, you’re missing out for a variety of reasons. First, Chip and Joanna Gaines are literally relationship GOALS (and no, I will not take back that overused 2016 term). Second, the homes are absolutely adorable. They put their heart and soul into each home, and find ways to bring in each new owner’s personalities and blend them in with Joanna’s unique farmhouse style.
The husband and wife team does everything from property scouting to interior decorating, demolition, construction, and all of the big and small details in between. So not only do they find the homes of couples’ dreams in their hometown of Waco, TX, they do the redesign and remodeling too.
Oh, and did we mention they do it all with the adorable mutual affection of high school teenagers?
So of course, when Chip and Jo took to their Magnolia Market blog to announce that the show’s fifth season would be their last, we were heartbroken.
On the blog post they write:
It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.
But that doesn’t mean they’re quitting Waco, or their work making old homes beautiful again. They go on to say,
Though our Fixer Upper chapter is coming to a close, we aren’t done with Waco. We aren’t done renovating homes. We aren’t done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren’t done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these things, we are just getting started.
*Sigh* I guess that just mean we’ll have to relish in all the cuteness Season 5 is bound to contain. These are just a couple of things we’ll miss about this couple:
Chip’s overabundance of love for his wife.
And his adorable tendency to show off for her.
Joanna’s encouragement/acceptance of Chip’s antics.
Like when she takes him antiquing and always ends up kinda regretting it.
Or the time he ate a cockroach.
And his sweat.
Joanna’s cupcake breaks that make you wanna say “Me too, girl.”
The most beautiful family you’ve ever seen.
And most of all…#SHIPLAP
