AOL’s Instant Messenger announcement has Twitter responding with painfully funny AIM memories

It’s the end of an era for anyone who was a product of the ’90s today. AOL announced their instant messaging service will be shutting down in mid-December after 20 years and it’s making people feel things.

In grade school it was our sole form of communicating to those crushes we could never speak to in person. And everyone had an embarrassing screen name (or 5) we thought was cool at the time. In a way, AIM is like an old friend from childhood.
