The relationship between Kit Harington and his fiancé Rose Leslie is a real-life fairytale, borne from the Game of Thrones set. The two have been dating since 2012, and last month they finally announced their engagement, much to fans’ delight.
However, the two weren’t always on such solid ground — in fact, Kit once pulled a prank on Rose that was so frightening, she almost broke things off.
Kit described the incident during a recent interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, saying that, while he quite enjoys pranks, Rose isn’t so keen on them. “My family does April Fools’. Her family doesn’t do April Fools’.”
With that in mind, Kit’s idea for an April Fools’ prank on his girlfriend may have been a little bit too good: he placed a fake, severed Jon Snow head in the refrigerator for Rose to find as she went about her morning routine.
Not surprisingly, her reaction was … not great.
Kit shared the footage of Rose opening the refrigerator, and it’s pretty clear that she’s far more disturbed than amused.
I mean, considering this is what she saw in the fridge, I can’t say I blame her:
Needless to say, the prank did not going over as swimmingly as Kit had hoped. “After that, she was in tears, and I was there going, ‘ … April Fools’?,'” Harington said.
Fortunately, Rose forgave him for such a dastardly and underhanded joke. However, she made it quite clear that she would not be down for any more severed heads appearing in her icebox in the future.
“She pretty much told me that if I did it ever again that would be it, and I think that’s marriage included,” Kit said.
Welp. I guess true love is learning when to not frighten your significant other with fake appendages.
