A clinical psychologist is claiming that listening to Christmas music is bad for you and I refuse to agree

Apparently listening to Christmas tunes is unhealthy and I’m shaken to the core.

Clinical Psychologist Linda Blair had a little chat with Sky News and shared that listening to Christmas music too early on in the season can basically drive you nuts. She says that the barrage of tunes serves as a constant reminder of all the things you have to get done during the holidays. “It might make us feel that we’re trapped – it’s a reminder that we have to buy presents, cater for people, organize celebrations,” Linda claimed.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that what the holiday is all about? Who actually thinks of Christmas without presents and celebrations? Linda then added that the music affects people who work in stores the most. “People working in the shops at Christmas have to tune out Christmas music because if they don’t, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else.”

I kind of see where this can make sense and be unhealthy for store employees, but it doesn’t mean her logic applies to every single one of them. Not only does she not have any study analysis to back up her claims, but some people jump at the chance to start celebrating Christmas early with some cheerful tunes because it lightens the mood and brings joy to their everyday life.

Let’s just all agree to disagree. Though Linda’s opinions can be relatable, other people such as John and Jean Copestick are all for an early start to Christmas. The couple decorated their Birmingham, England home back in September. “We’ve been doing it about 30 years, maybe longer. A lot of it is for the children at the local schools who come every year to see it, that’s mostly why I like to do it. The teachers bring them, sometimes they bring the special needs children where my lads went to school – they used to bring a coach load of them,” John shared.
