This mom’s accidental NSFW Christmas gift successfully made the holidays much more awkward

Sometimes, parents are just so damn pure.

And by “pure,” I mean “oblivious.” Let’s not forget the dad who mistakenly assumed his daughter’s portable phone charger was a vibrator, or the grandma who accidentally purchased ornaments filled with sparkly thong underwear.

Redditor Snowy_Boy recently shared a photo of one of his sister’s more, um, memorable Christmas gifts: a monogrammed Yeti thermos given to her by their mother.

Unfortunately, it seems that mom didn’t quite realize what her daughter’s initials spelled out when she ordered the thoughtful gift.

The whole situation gets even more hilariously cringe-worthy when you realize that the initials are on a container intended for liquids. Blech. I guess she won’t be using that thermos for eggnog!

If you’re wondering who in their right mind would give someone whose initials spell CUM a monogrammed gift, allow me to demystify the situation: when you have things monogrammed in this particular fashion, the initial of the surname ends up largest and in the middle, while the initials for the first and middle names are smaller and arranged on either side. So, this girl’s initials are actually CMU. (Which makes slightly more sense.)

Even so … this still feels like something the mom should have considered.

Redditors were highly appreciative of the unintentionally awkward gift, though. “If I had a sister with those initials, monogrammed items are the ONLY gifts she’s getting from me for life,” yuppicide0138 noted. “It’s the thought that counts, and the lack of thought that makes it memorable,” TTMcBumbersnazzle added.

I think TheCannon won, though, when they pointed out the mug’s lettering in its entirety: “Cum Yeti … A terrifying creature to be sure.”

Poor Mom. I guess this proves that no good holiday deed goes unpunished.
