Well, folks, it looks like 2018 isn’t going to be all sunshine and rainbows, as so many of us had naively hoped.
An unprecedented winter hurricane is expected to hit the northeast this week, and experts are actually calling the phenomenon a “bomb cyclone,” due to the fact that its pressure is expected to drop rapidly. Temperatures all across a large swath of the east coast are expected to drop to record lows, and even areas like northern Florida will be pelted with frozen precipitation.
“This rapidly intensifying East Coast storm will produce strong, damaging winds — possibly resulting in downed trees, power outages and coastal flooding,” the National Weather Service reported via Twitter.
Naturally, people are … not thrilled.
After all, let’s not forget the myriad of other record-breaking natural disasters that have plagued the country over the past year: wildfires, floods, droughts. Don’t we deserve a break in this new year??
If you happen to be situated along the east coast during this particularly frigid time, then the only thing I can offer you is this bit of advice: A.) bundle the f*ck up, and B.) read these tweets, because misery loves company. (And laughter might just warm your face up for the first time in days.)
