Girlfriends, a British TV show, premiered last night in the UK. The show is stacked with some incredible actresses and actors, and is full of drama and intrigue. But it seems that Harry Potter alum Matthew Lewis is getting a lot of attention for his brief, though bare-chested, appearance on the show.
Matthew Lewis stars opposite Zoë Wanamaker’s character “Gail,” who is going through a divorce.
Her son “Tom” (Lewis) was just released from prison, and from the looks of it, enjoyed plenty of free time in the gym.
If you can’t place Gail’s face, think back to Lewis’ Harry Potter days.
Zoë Wanamaker reunited with Matthew Lewis in Girlfriends, though it’s not to reprise her role as “Madame Hooch,” Hogwart’s broomstick-flying instructor in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
It’s been over 15 years since the two worked together in Harry Potter, but Wanamaker still remembers Lewis as a child, and said of his recent transformation to What’s on TV, “I haven’t seen Matthew since he was in Harry Potter, so it was a shock when I saw him. This gorgeous hunk.”
Like us, Wanamaker recalls Lewis before his glorious transformation from the gawky Neville Longbottom, to the jailbird stud Lewis’s character portrays in Girlfriends. But it’s gonna take a lot for us to tear our eyes away from Lewis’ chiseled pecs and muscular legs.
But wait, there are some more familiar faces in the TV show. Remember Mrs. Hughes, from Downton Abbey?
Yep, that’s actress Phyllis Logan, whose character “Linda” is grieving over the mysterious death of her husband.
And Buffy The Vampire Slayer fans will may have noticed actor Anthony Head.
Head is most recognizable amongst the WB generation as the the iconic school librarian “Giles”.
Hopefully this show makes it’s way across the pond so we can get more of just about everything from it. For now, I’ll just leave this little throwback here…
