Unless you live under a rock where you don’t get cell service, you’ve probably heard that women will be wearing all black everything to the Golden Globes this year. Now they’ve adding a small accessory to complete the look.
Rather than showing off expensive diamonds that none of us could afford anyway, Hollywood starlets will be wearing a pin in support of an initiative that supports victims of sexual harassment and abuse.
Time’s Up was launched on Monday by the leading ladies of Hollywood, including of Shonda Rhimes, Reese Witherspoon, and Emma Stone. More than 300 women in the industry are backing the initiative that aims to raise 15 million for legal funds.
In hopes of drawing more attention to the prevention initiative, Reese has created a Time’s Up accessory pin.
The A Wrinkle In Time star reached out to Arianne Phillips, costume designer for the film and music industry. “We were up against the holidays, but I said I could do it, and the first person I called was my partner-in-crime, [Los Angeles jewelry designer] Michael Schmidt,” Phillips shared. They managed to get 500 manufactured in two weeks.
The Time’s Up initiative has already raised over 14 million and will likely sky rocket when the pin is seen on both men and women at the Golden Globes January 7.
