Though our 2016 election has come to a close, the storm of mortifying political bullshit is far from over. Now that you-know-who has taken his position as POTUS, several questionable nominations within the Supreme Court are underway.
In fact, one of Trump’s potential judicial picks, William H. Pryor, has taken it upon himself to announce that he believes consensual gay sex should be punishable with jail time. This has understandably caused an uproar from citizens everywhere particularly those among the LGBT community. However, one teen’s amazing response to Pryor’s unbelievably bigoted ideals is giving the internet something to cheer on and laugh about.
Earlier this week, the Independent reported that potential SC judge William H. Pryor wants to criminalize consensual gay sex.
According to the Independent, in 2003 Pryor wrote a legal brief defending a Texas law that would criminalize consensual gay sex. The law was later struck down by the Supreme Court.
“Homosexual sodomy has not historically been recognized in this country as a right; to the contrary, it has historically been recognized as a wrong. It is not a fundamental right,” Pryor wrote.
What in the actual?
Many members of the LGBT community were understandably horrified and angered by these statements.
Logan Moreno, a Florida teen, tweeted the best response to this news.
So far, the epic tweet has more than 40,000 retweets and 100,000 likes.
Logan told Buzzfeed News that he had received a variety of reactions, including “staunch Republicans who ‘want proof’” and raunchy responses from LGBT people.
“It’s extremely interesting,” he said. “I’ve found it very amusing.”
Unsurprisingly, the internet loved Logan’s tweet and others were inspired to suggest their own ideas for locations.
Logan shared that he’s humbled by the amount of positivity and support from the LGBT community.
“There’s definitely been an overflow of support from the LGBT community and straight people alike,” said Logan. “It fills me with hope to see that people really do care about others’ rights and will protect them.”
“It’s a great feeling to see people say things like ‘this tweet actually made me laugh’ because I know the feeling and I know how the outcome of this election has made people feel so being able to make people forget about their fear for our country is a great thing.”
